OHANA OF HOWARD COUNTY
“Ohana” in Hawaiian means family. For OhanaHC, Ohana means our extended community family. It embodies our core values and who we strive to be for each other. Each student is paired with four mentors who partner with them to develop strategies to overcome barriers and achieve self-defined success.
Ohana's mission is to value and mentor incoming 9th graders who struggle academically through diverse, enduring 10-year relationships that reduce racial, ethnic, and economic barriers.
With diverse teams of mentors, vulnerable Howard County high school students are provided with tools to reach their educational potential and become successful community members; segregation and isolation are reduced for all.
